TRAVEL- DO NOT CHANGE YOUR NAME on your drivers license IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL in the next few weeks out of the country with a passport that you have your maiden name. You must have all travel documents and tickets in the same name. Exp. Air confirmation must match passport and drivers license must match air confirmation and passport. Also remember passport must not expire within 6 months of travel. If you have questions, contact the passport office. There is a passport office in the Desoto Courthouse downstairs.

2535 Highway 51 South Room 200

Weddings are Performed outside the Courthouse either at the North doors (Clock Tower Side) or the Front Steps depending on the time and day of the ceremony. Weddings are no longer allowed inside the Courthouse.

No you do not. As long as you get married in the state you are getting your marriage license from you are ok. A person from Memphis can get a Mississippi License just like a person from North Carolina, as long as you get married in the State of Mississippi. Your marriage is valid and recognized across state lines, provided you've legally obtained a marriage license and certificate from the state where you got married.

The Officiant needs an hour to get to the courthouse normally but there are times she may already be at the courthouse or have another wedding appointment soon.  So it could be sooner I only live 10 minutes from the courthouse. Call for more info.

Give yourself at least 20-30 minutes in addition to the ceremony to fill out the paperwork and get the license before the wedding. Filling out the paperwork before you arrive will help. https://www.desotocountyms.gov/117/Applications-Forms

Most Ceremonies are only 7-10 minutes long. Depending on if you write your own vows But if you don't I have a ceremony for you.

Yes you can write your own vows.  If you need help I am here to help you.

Yes I have a set of vows we use most often on our Things To Think About Page.

Not everyone comes with wedding rings.  So don't worry about that  The ceremony and the wedding is a beautiful moment. Don't let that worry you. I have included on the Things To Think About Page a small ring engage you can say to each other when you do get rings if you want. You can even say them on your anniversary to each other.

The Officiant will sign the Official Marriage License and turn in the remaining paperwork to the courthouse to be recorded in the books.

A Mississippi Marriage License does not expire and it can be used anywhere in the State of Mississippi from Southaven to Biloxi.

You are Officially married when you say "I DO" and the Officiant declares you Husband and Wife,

Your marriage license essentially becomes your marriage certificate after it’s signed.

Your officiant then submits the original signed document to the County Clerk’s office. The County Clerk’s office will issue a certified copy of the marriage certificate if needed that serves as proof of the marriage.
